Health Factors in Police Job Stress (IN: Job Stress and the Police Officer: Identifying Stress Reduction Techniques, ed. by W Kroes and J Hurrell)
Richard W C~~Fell R D
This study examined the question: is police work really more psychologically stressful than other occupations? Health data (death certificates, mental health centers & general hospitals) by occupation was reviewed. Preliminary results indicated specific areas of health problems for police. The suicide rate for police was found to be third highest among the different occupations. The need for more mental health data is emphasized. (16 refs)
