This practice guideline is based on available evidence & clinical consensus & offers recommendations to help psychiatrists in assessing & treating adult patients with suicidal behaviors. Part A contains general & specific recommendations for the assessment & treatment of patients with suicidal behaviors. Part B provides an overview of suicide, & a review & synthesis of the evidence that underlies the recommendations made in Part A. Part C draws from the previous sections & summarizes areas for which more research data are needed. (846 refs)
