The Suicide Intervention Program, a peer-based mental health promotion program designed as a partnership between the University of Canberra & the YWCA of Canberra, was evaluated in terms of changes experienced by 42 of its first participants. Results indicated that the program had a positive effect on participants, with almost all measures improving from pre- to post-test, although this did not correlate with the actual behaviour of talking to other students about feelings. The program’s impact on the wider community is discussed. (29 refs)
