Social and Psychiatric Functioning in Adolescents With Asperger Syndrome Compared With Conduct Disorder

This paper reports psychoscial functioning in 20 male adolescents with Asperger Syndrome (AS), defined according to current ICD-10 criteria, & a comparison group of 20 male adolescents with severe conduct disorder. In assessment, the AS group showed severe functioning & psychiatrict mobidity. High levels of anxiety & obsessional disorders were found in As; depression, suicidal ideation, tempers, & defiance were found in both groups. Results are compared with those from other studies, & implications are discussed. (28 refs)
