Abstract
Suicide Amongst the Elderly in ‘Catholic and Orthodox’ and ‘Non-Catholic-Orthodox’ Countries: an Unexpected Finding
Pritchard C
It was expected that elderly suicide compared to general suicide rates would be lower in Catholic & Orthodox countries than Non-Catholic-Orthodox states because of religious & extended family traditions. The reverse was found to be the case. The reasons for this are unknown but important policy implications for the more traditional countries are discussed. (37 refs)
