This study examined the possbility that predictors related to Australian, Canadian, & U.S. cross-national variation in the ratio of male to female suicide rates are different from predictors of male & female suicide rates. Also, Pampel’s (1998) hypothesis that national differences in “collectivism” & “institutional adjustment” explain post-World War Two trends in the gender ratio in developed countries is tested.
