In response to research showing that people with learning disabilities experience significantly more emotional difficulties following bereavement than the general population, a research study was set up to find an intervention that could be shown to be beneficial to bereaved people with learning disabilities. This paper reports on the findings, comparing two very different types of help for these people, & demonstrating the effectiveness of bereavement support by carefully selected, trained & supervised volunteers.
