This report presents prevalence rates of self-harm among children & adolescents aged 5-15 in England, Scotland & Wales during the first half of 1999, based on the results of a national mental health survey. Data is divided into 2 age groups: 5-10 years & 11-15 years. Differences in the responses of parents & children about the occurrence of self-harm in children & adolescents are discussed. For the most part, no attempt is made to differentiate between self-harm behaviors based on intent.
