The authors comment on an article by C Tomassini et al, which presented evidence for a lower suicide rate among twins compared with singletons. The commentators all question Tomassini et al’s explanative factor (“strong family ties”) for this finding, & offer some more evidence-based suggestions of causal factors. The authors respond to these criticisms, defending their own position & pointing out the limitations of some of the commentators’ suggestions.
