Suicide Prevention in Europe: the WHO European Monitoring Survey on National Suicide Prevention Programmes and Strategies

This document assesses the level of suicide prevention activities in countries of the WHO European Region. Of 38 countries that responded to questionnaires, 11 had national suicide prevention initiatives supported by government policy & 6 were approved by parliament. Common themes between these initiatives are identified & discussed. The implementation of national prevention initiatives in the remaining countries are also discussed, & similarities between them are explored. (7 refs)
