As part of an investigation into the harmful effects of corporal punishment, this chapter tests the hypothesis that the more corporal punishment experienced as a child, the greater the probability of depression & suicidal thoughts as an adult. The relationship between corporal punishment & depression is therefore examined in detail. (30 refs)
