This chapter reports the progress of the authors in describing certain illnesses among the Hopi of northeastern Arizona, in articulating their explanation of these illnesses, & in discovering points of interface with psychiatric diagnosis & theory. Special attention is given to the relationship among Hopi categories of illness & the relationship of these categories to depression. (72 refs)
