Wallace L J D~~Patel R~~Dellinger A
To help focus injury prevention efforts among American Indian & Alaska Native children, CDC analyzed injury mortality data by area & race/ethinicity. This report summarizes the results of these analyses, which indicate that although death rates for some causes have shown substantial improvement over time (e.g., drowning & fire), rates for other causes have increased or remained the same (e.g., homicide & suicide, respectively). Recommendations for prevention strategies are discussed. (10 refs)
