This article provides some general information about the field of suicidology & the issues surrounding suicide research. Indicators used by coroners to identify death by suicide are discussed, as are the three main categorizations of completed suicides: egoistic, altruistic, & anomic. Demographic, social, & medical correlates of suicide are also explored. (10 refs)
