The authors of this chapter argue that in order to have a significant impact on current suicide trends, a suicide prevention program will need to incorporate more than a single type of intervention, recognizing that suicide is a multi-dimensional phenomenon. The question of how such a comprehensive approach can be realized & what specific content should be contained therein is the focus of this chapter. In addition, two suicide prevention program models are described, one Canadian & one European. (24 refs)
