This report details a case of attempted suicide with car exhaust fumes in which the patient was diagnosed with acute carbon monoxide poisoning while suffering from alcohol intoxication. The patient also had a 20-year psychiatric history. Complications in the management of patients with multiple diagnoses are discussed. Difficulties associated with acute carbon monoxide poisoning are also discussed. (6 refs)
