The author analyzes the concept of assisted suicide & describes the diversity of possible legal responses to acts of physician-assisted suicide. He provides an ethical analysis of PAS by discussing the cases of Janet Adkins & “Diane,” attempting to sort out the competing ethical arguments about the issue. He concludes by making some recommendations for professional practice & public policy.
