This document reports that results of recent placebo-controlled tests in pediatric patients have shown that suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts, & episodes of self-harm were more frequent among paroxetine users. The article reports that further investigations into the limitations of paroxetine’s use are pending, & that a gradual tapering of the dose in pediatric patients is recommended. The current warnings do not apply to adult users of paroxetine. (7 refs)
