This paper discusses the relationship between body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), also known as dysmorphobia, & depression. It discusses practical strategies for recognizing & treating BDD & depressive symptoms in patients with depression. Symptoms associated with BDD, including high rates of occupational & social impairment, hospitalization, & suicide attempts, are discussed. (45 refs)
