In this article, the authors investigated whether the suicide rate in twins was different to that in the general population. Their findings indicated that twins had a substantially lower suicide rate compared with the general population, supporting the authors’ hypothesis that strong family ties reduce the risk for suicidal behaviour. The relationship betweens suicidality, twins, & mental illness is also briefly discussed. (5 refs)
