This study examined whether death from degenerative cardiac & vascular diseases is more common among amputees than in the general population. Tuberculosis, cancer, accidents, suicide, & miscellaneous causes of death were also reviewed. The authors found that completed suicides seemed to be more common among amputee populations, as compared with the general population. (10 refs)
