In order to urge the need for more, scientific study of suicide in the African-American community that will explain the many paradoxes & inconsistencies in the current literature, this article presents the reader with some of the often mystifying data on suicide in this segment of the American population. The authors seek to highlight some of the contradictions they feel experts in suicidology & public health need to study.
