This proceeding discusses firearm-related deaths in the United States. Evidence is presented that indicates that peacetime deaths due to firearm are more than double deaths attributed to all prominent wars combined involving Americans. Of the 36,519 firearm-deaths in 1990, 18,865 were suicide, 16,218 were homicide, & 1,416 were accidental. It is noted that in recent years suicides with guns have exceeded homicides with guns. (SC)
