This report examined the incidence of suicide & suicide attempts in the Niagara population (15 years of age & over) in order to inform future planning related to suicide prevention in Niagara. According to data compiled from several government organizations, the regional average suicide rate was 1.34 per 100,000 for 1986-1999. The regional rate for hospitalization due to suicide attempt was 7.95 per 1,000 for 1996-2001. Age cohorts, municipalities & sex differences are analyzed. National rates are included. (SC)
