Many Helping Hearts: Peer Gatekeeper Training in Suicide Risk Assessment. Program Evaluation

This report evaluates the gatekeeper training program for suicide risk assessment. Information about the program & organization is included. Data was collected about knowledge & competency attitudes towards assessing suicidal risk from youths before & after completing the program. The results indicate a significant increase in knowledge, skills, & attitudes as a result of a 2-day training session on suicide risk assessment. The report concludes that this peer-helper training program provides youths will skills comparable to expert adults in suicide intervention. (6 refs) (SC)
