This article is a response to Healy & colleagues (1999) study of ‘Suicide in the Course of the Treatment of Depression’. The author presents a case that indicates that complications other than akathisia may arise when fluoxetine is administered for treatment of depression & suicidal ideations. In this case, a 15-year-old boy exhibited decreased anxiety & increased aggression while on the drug. These side effects ceased immediately when the fluoxetine was discontinued in treatment.
