This study evaluated correlations of self-esteem, depression, & state-trait anxiety with suicide probability in alcohol dependence. 70 patients’ histories, the Suicide Probability Scale, the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory, the Beck Depression Inventory, & the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Scales were used for evaluation. It was found that self-esteem, depression, & trait anxiety predict suicide probability. Suicide probability was found to be higher within a sub-sample with history of a suicidal act. (32 refs)
