Roy A
This study aims to examine whether early childhood adversity may be a determinant of neuroticism. 532 abstinent substance dependent patients completed both the Childhood Truama Questionnaire (CTQ) & the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ). A significant relationship was found between total childhood trauma scores on the CTQ & neuroticism scores on the EPQ. There were also significant relationships between neuroticism & CTQ subscores for emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional neglect & physical neglect. (21 refs)
