This article comments on Marusic & Farmer’s (2001) study that examined the role of genetic factors in suicidal behavior. The author argues that the limited scientific evidence would suggest that there is no Finno-Ugrian suicide gene or a shared genetic risk factor. It is asserted that it is unlikely that something as complex as suicidal behavior is genetically determined by a single gene or a few gene variants. (5 refs) (SC)
