This article examines the mental health of farmers. Unique occupational stressors are presented, in order to account for the fact that farmers have the highest suicide rate of any occupational group in the United Kingdom. The effects of strong stigma against suicidal communications on health-seeking behaviors of these individuals are discussed. Suicide intervention programs are suggested which consider the occupational stressors of farmers. (36 refs) (SC)
