This study investigates the association between the risk of suicide in persons with epilepsy & clinical factors that might increase this risk. Information was collected & compared on 26 cases of confirmed suicide, 23 cases of suspected suicide, & 171 people with epilepsy who were registered in the Stockholm County In-Patient Register. Results indicate that patients who died by suicide were more likely to have early-onset epilepsy, psychiatric illness, & inadequate neurological follow-up. (41 refs) (SC)
