In this article a sample of 90 rural Chinese women were interviewed to asses a theoretical model that assumes suicidal ideation is a function of four theoretical variables: psychological aspects such a self-esteem & personal adjustment; coping aspects; environmental aspects; & attitudes toward suicide. Results indicate a relative fit between the theoretical model & the observed data. This fit may be limited by assumptions in covariance structural modeling that may not reflect psychological & psychometric reality. (43 refs.) (AK)
