This article compares the death rates associated with childbirth & abortion in women. The article examines the findings of research on the death rates of 173,279 women who had an induced abortion or delivery in 1989. The article found that compared to women who had delivered, those who aborted had a significantly higher age-adjusted risk of death from all causes of morbidity, including suicide. The article concludes that higher death rates associated with abortion may be explained by self-destructive tendencies, depression, & other unhealthy behavior aggravated by the abortion experience.
