Abstract
A Cross-Cultural Investigation of the Communication of Suicidal Intent in Swedish and Turkish Adolescents
Eskin M
This article examines a study that found Swedish adolescents were more disapproving of a suicidal disclosure by a fictional friend than their Turkish counterparts. Given this finding, & using a sample of 966 Swedish & 956 Turkish high school students, the authors ask: To whom do adolescents disclose their suicidal thoughts? What reactions do such disclosures produce. What were the reasons for not disclosing suicidal feelings? (28 refs)
