It outlines developmental differences that influence the incidence of injury & prevention strategies that could decrease the amount of injuries incurred by children & youths. The author cites that 1,600 American children died from intentional injuries in 1991. Risk factors for death from injury include having 5 or more alcoholic drinks in a row during the last two weeks, attempting suicide, taking part in a fight, & not using seatbelts all or most of the time.
