This article outlines the history, public opinion, & medical opinion & practice of euthanasia & physician-assisted suicide. It also reviews the ethical & legal issues surrounding these practices. The aim of the article is to increase the awareness of physicians who are increasinly likely to be confronted with clinical situations involving the practices of physician-assisted suicide & euthanasia.
