Explores the phenomena of physician impairment, & its typical manifestations, including suicide, alcoholism, & narcotics addictions. Possible causes & contributors to impairments are suggested, as well as means of prevention & intervention. Implications of physician impairment on medical care are also discussed. (11 refs)
