Abstract
5-Hydroxyindoleacetic Acid Levels in Attempted Suicides who Have Killed Their Children
Lidberg L~~Ashberg M~~Sundqvist-Stensman U
The authors measured the CSF 5-HIAA levels in three subjects who had killed their own children & subsequently attempted suicide. The CST 5-HIAA levels were found to be very low in all three subjects. Based on these findings, the authors suggest that disordered serotonin turnover may be one biological basis for a profound disturbance in aggression control. (8 refs)
