In this paper, the authors give an overview of the legal developments concerning the limits of euthanasia & assisted suicide. They briefly outline the general legal situation in The Netherlands regarding euthanasia & assisted suicide, & analyze the case law on physician-assisted suicide in psychiatry. Finally, they discuss the debate outside the courtroom on physician-assisted suicide in psychiatry, summarizing the main comments regarding the key problems.
