In this article, the author discusses three diverse types of depression that, in his opinion, terminally ill patients & their family suffer from the moment they learn the diagnosis. These types of depression are reactive, anxious, & anticipatory. Ways in which the clinical thanatologist can manage these depressions are presented. (12 refs.)
