Students’ knowledge about suicidal behaviours was analyzed in a sample of Cuban adolescents. During the 1999-2000 school year, a 4-item questionnaire was administered to 1527 high school students. Results showed that respondents considered physical abuse or hitting as the most frequent reason to commit suicide. They believed tablet ingestion to be the most common method of suicide. Anger was thought to be the predominant emotion experienced by the adolescent in crisis. Parents & friends were chosen more frequently as sources of help than physicians or teachers. (9 refs.)
