Abstract
Sex-Specific Predictors of Suicidality Among Runaway Youth
Leslie M B~~Stein J A~~Rotheram-Borus M J
This article examined predictors of suicidality (ideation & attempts) among 348 adolescent runaways using sex-specific models that tested the impact of the three domains of the Social Action Model: individual characteristics, interpersonal influences, & life events. 25% of the girls & 14% of the boys had attempted suicide at least once. Findings suggest some sex-specific interventions, but decreasing emotional distress & lessening the influence of suicidal friends may be useful for both boys & girls. (77 refs)
