These three chapters on terminal illness, euthanasia, & suicide are from a short book that discusses the development of the change in medical thinking in the UK from a sanctity of life to a quality of life stance; comparisons are made particularly with developments in the US. Both the legal & the moral principles are addressed but, in many instances, there is no precedent in law & the merits of the medical ethos are then examined ‘ab initio’.
