The Relationship Between Depressive Illness and Parasuicide: a Preliminary Study (IN: Suicidal Behaviour in Europe: Recent Research Findings, edited by P Crepet et al)

The present study was designed to identify some unanswered questions about the association between depressive illness and parasuicide, and to arrive at a working hypothesis for further investigation. It can thus be regarded as preliminary in its findings. The hypotheses which it generates, and their answers, have implications for aspects of managing the depressed population, and for identifying those at risk of parasuicide and ultimately at risk of suicide.
