Hospice would ideally be the standard of care for treating all patients with advanced terminal illnesses, regardless of their diagnosis or ability to pay. If this high standard was applied & hospice care was made available to all patients, the current clamour for physician-assisted suicide would all but evaporate. (12 refs)
