Euthanasia should not be confused with suicide, which is a gesture dictated by desperation. Euthanasia is a choice between death as a natural event & the artificial prolongation of the process of extinction, made possible by modern medical equipment . In order to justify it, on a moral basis, one can refer to situation ethics instead of codified ethics. From a juridical point of view, we must distinguish between ‘active’ & ‘passive’ euthanasia & take into consideration the ‘living will’: that is the right to dispose of personal life, of the right to freedom & of the right to happiness.
