An examination of “Phaedo” 62A-69E, in which the unity of the passage is stressed, & it is seen how the paradox of death & suicide, advanced at 62A, is developed in a somewhat dialectical manner & eventually resolved in the concept of virtue. The exegetical problems of the various sections of the passage are considered as well.
