The authors question Socie et al. on their study regarding the long-term survival of bone marrow transplantation patients. They suggest that the retrospective study results may be biased since it is difficult to collect complete data on the study population (ie. if patients die suddenly or move, their records may be lost & excluded from analysis). They also ask why suicide is not mentioned as a cause of death since incidence of suicide is higher among such survivors than among healthy subjects. (3 refs)
