This descriptive, cross-sectional & exhaustive study examined sick-leave, mortality & cancer incidence to assess the health of the employees working in nuclear power plants at Electricite de France from 1993 through 1998. The employees in the nuclear sector had fewer health problems than the other company employees. However, non-work accidents generated an excess of absenteeism & mortality among those employees, especially among management & supervisory personnel; suicides affected supervisors in particular; and an excess of primary malignant brain tumours affected both mortality & incidence.(53 refs.)
