In this chapter, the authors have selected a few therapeutic techniques from the wide range available to illustrate how they apply to grief & loss situations. The techniques are organized according to their primary purpose & are grouped into the following 3 categories: 1) techniques that promote an understanding & acceptance of grief reactions; 2) techniques that assist the client in exploring & expanding the legacy of the deceased; & 3) techniques that help externalize grief through symbolic acts. Each section concludes with an illustrative case study.
